A personal recommendation of John Skinner Building Contractor.
Over the past twelve years I have employed John Skinner to carry out various works on my house, from cement pointing the whole property and building an outside fishpond and patio area to building a bespoke fireplace and other works too numerous to mention
I first encountered John Skinner after several other local builders failed to respond to an emergency when several of my roof slates were blown off during a particularly severe gale. John Skinner was the only person who would turn out and repair the roof immediately. I was desperate as I feared the whole roof was in danger of being blown off and was prepared for an expensive bill. But I recieved an extremely reasonable bill, much less than I considered to be a fair price. I subsequently always requested a quote from John for all my needs and every one of them were very competitive so John always got the work.
There is a saying which goes, you get what you pay for, but my experience is that is not always the case. The quality of Johns workmanship was first class even though the quote was not the highest by any means. John Skinner has given me valuable advice as to how to proceed to achieve what I wanted and saving me money at the same time. I have nothing but praise for his employees too, they are always polite, helpful and hardworking, leaving a job finished on time and clean and tidy afterwards.
In short I can, and do, recommend John Skinner Building Contractors to anyone and everyone. I have never been disappointed to date, and expect to remain highly satisfied with him in future ventures

Friends & other local people recommended John Skinner Building Contractor to me. In 2003-2004 I used his services for the following projects:

· Building an en suite bathroom, including the tiled roof and internal floor and wall tiling.

· Moving a window in the attached bedroom.

· Removing sceptic tank and replacing it with a Bio Sewerage System. This included the associated pumps, compressor, piping and the laying of a waste water pipe via a trench across a field to discharge into a dyke.

· Extensive concreting for a garage base, drive, brick planters and other hard landscaping.

Negotiation at various stages was conducted respectfully and changes met with stoicism and cooperation. All aspects of work were conducted professionally and on time. I was not resident whilst much of this work was done but this was not a problem. John Skinner builders could be trusted to work well and liaise with me when queries occurred. My wife and daughter found them friendly but respectful in my absence.

None of the above projects needed any  rework, nor have subsequent repairs been required. I have no hesitation in recommending his services.

We asked John Skinner to undertake the task of of connecting us to mains drainage, excavating ground works from the rear of the property to the mains at the front. Considering it was a big and messy job, we were really impressed with the way the work was done, keeping the upheaval to a minimum and keeping us well informed at all stages of the job. Following this, they levelled the back garden and laid a large patio of Indian sandstone.
